Banana bread

A moist, soft banana bread with ripe bananas and a hint of cinnamon and ginger. An easy, delicious cake that is perfect with afternoon coffee or as a sweet snack.

A moist banana bread with warming spices

There is something truly special about the smell of freshly baked banana bread. The ripe bananas provide natural sweetness and a lovely moist crumb, while cinnamon and ginger add a gentle warmth that makes every slice extra inviting.

Banana bread is a classic that is both easy to bake and lovely to serve. It tastes fantastic while still warm, but also stays moist the next day and is perfect with a cup of coffee or tea.

For this recipe, a stand mixer is a great help when mixing the batter to an even consistency. A 26 cm sauté pot without handles also works well as a baking tin and gives the banana bread a lovely golden surface.

Tips for moist banana bread

Use ripe bananas, as they provide more sweetness and an extra moist texture.

Let the banana bread cool slightly before slicing. This makes it easier to cut neat slices.

What makes banana bread so popular?

Banana bread is a classic because it combines a soft, moist crumb with the natural sweetness of ripe bananas. The warming spices give it a rounded flavour that makes the cake suitable all year round.

It is a simple recipe with few ingredients, but the result is a delicious, home-baked cake suited to both everyday occasions and cosy moments with family or guests.

Serving

Serve the banana bread warm or at room temperature to bring out the best in its soft texture and mild banana and spice flavour. It is perfect as a sweet snack or with a cup of coffee or tea.

If you have baked the banana bread ahead of time, you can briefly warm a slice before serving. This brings out the moist texture and lovely aroma of cinnamon and ginger.
