PATENTED HYBRID TECHNOLOGY
The patented ONYX™ hybrid non-stick frying pan, is unmatched in the world of cookware. If you ask us, it is the best frying pan you can get. Period.
So how does it work?
In the production of an ONYX™ frying pan, we use three layers – also referred to as “Tri-Ply” or “Clad” cookware. We start with a layer of magnetic stainless steel. This ensures that the frying pan will work on any stove – gas, ceramic or induction - it’s all the same when using ONYX™ products. After that comes a layer of aluminum, which provides even heat distribution. We then sandwich this with a final layer of stainless steel.
What really sets our products apart from your regular cookware, is the unique laser etching process that creates the patented ONYX™ hexagon design. This unique process creates a series of peaks and valleys on the frying pan. In the valley is the non-stick material, making sure you get that non-stick functionality and easy clean-up. On the peaks you get the stainless steel, providing durability, perfect sear on your meat and the ability to use metal utensils and tools – even electric tools (!). This is why we call our frying pans “hybrid”. They provide you with the best of two worlds; The non-stick functionality that we all want in our frying pan and the durability of a professional stainless steel or cast iron pan.
NON-STICK – WITH PERFECT SEAR!
The ONYX™ frying pan will provide you with superb non-stick functionality. We use a high-grade Japanese non-stick coating, which is infused with diamond dust for extra strength and durability.
For the really sticky stuff, you can simply melt your cheese directly on the pan or make your sunny-side-up eggs with very little to no butter, fats or oils. Just like you would expect from any other high-quality non-stick frying pan.
But when it comes to your meat, this is where our cookware really shines! Trying to fry a good steak on a normal non-stick frying pan, is a truly miserable experience. Sure, you will get it done alright. But you will not be getting that crisp sear that you want on your meat. That is because you are cooking on a completely flat surface, where the fluids (fat from the meat, or your own added butter or oils) have nowhere to go. You will in fact be literally boiling your steak.
With our ONYX™ frying pan, the patented laser etched design guarantees that you will get the same crisp sear that you would expect from using for example a specialized cast iron grill pan.
The most defining feature of the ONYX™ frying pan, is without a doubt the ability to use metal utensils and tools without any risk of scratching or otherwise damaging the non-stick coating on your frying pan. In fact, you can even use electric power tools on it. We are not kidding. You can use your high-powered electric mixer directly on the ONYX™ frying pan, without making a scratch!
Because the ONYX™ frying pan is stainless steel and aluminum all the way through, even the handle, it can be used safely in the oven up to 260C.
With a complete set of ONYX™ cookware, you will never need to use an ovenproof dish/tray anymore. We are not joking here. Using it for chicken is easy. But it does not stop there. You want to make Lasagna? Chops in dish? Or simply a big fat (and delicious) chocolate cake? Just take out your ONYX™ frying pan or saute pan, and start cooking. It is easier than using most ovenproof dishes or trays. And as already mentioned – the cleaning is truly a breeze!
STEEL WOOL CLEANING
Being able to resist metal utensils also means that you can safely use steel wool on your ONYX cookware. In our opinion this is one of the most underappreciated features of our products. We promise you this; once you have tried to clean our products, you will never be able to go back to anything else.
When using our frying pans in the oven, as a replacement for your regular oven-tray, you will inevitably get things burned to the edges of the pan or in extreme cases even to the pan itself. No amount of non-stick can prevent that, since you are using it in the oven at high temperatures for a long period of time. With a regular oven-tray, you would have to let it soak in soap and water for several days! Not with ONYX cookware. Because of our hybrid technology, you can use metal utensils – and most importantly steel wool. The combination of steel wool and non-stick surface means that cleaning up is always a breeze. Even when using it in the oven!
Now that we're on the frying pan cleaning, did you mention what you don't currently need to do by hand? Our products are all dishwasher safe!
