Pulled Pork in the Multi Cooker – Perfect for Summer Evenings

For the meat:

  • 1.2–1.5 kg pork shoulder (neck)

  • 1 tbsp paprika

  • 1 tbsp brown sugar

  • 2 tsp ground cumin

  • 1 tsp smoked paprika (optional)

  • 1 tsp onion powder

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 2 tsp salt

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • 100 ml apple cider vinegar or apple juice

  • 100 ml water

For serving:

  • Brioche or burger buns

  • Coleslaw

  • BBQ sauce

  • Pickled red onions (optional)

How to Make It – Easy and Fully Automatic:

  1. Prepare the meat:
    Pat the pork dry with kitchen paper. Mix all dry spices in a bowl and rub them thoroughly into the meat.

  2. Lock in the flavour:
    Select the “Sauté” function on your multi cooker. Brown the pork on all sides in a little oil until the spices caramelise and a delicious crust forms. Remove the meat from the pot.

  3. Add the liquids:
    Pour in the apple cider vinegar and water. Use a wooden spoon to scrape up the flavourful bits from the bottom. Place the pork back into the pot.

  4. Slow cook:
    Select the “Slow Cook” setting: 8 hours on low or 5–6 hours on high. Close the lid – the machine does the rest.

  5. Shred the meat:
    Once cooked, remove the pork and shred it with two forks. Spoon over a bit of the cooking liquid for extra flavour and moisture.
