THE EDGE - SHARPNESS THAT LASTS LONGER
The edge of an ONYX COOKWARE™ knife uses our patented hybrid ceramic-steel compound to give you the best of both worlds, with none of the downsides; The extreme and long-lasting sharpness from a ceramic knife, combined with the longevity and durability from a high-quality steel knife.
During the forging process we take a 5mm thick plate of our ceramic-steel compound and plasma weld it onto the steel blade, to form an edge with a hardness of an incredible 64 HRC on the Rockwell scale. This means that our knives will retain edge sharpness longer than any other steel knife on the market.
We then use precision grinding on the edge of every single knife we make. The unique composition of our patented hybrid ceramic-steel allows us to use more aggressive grinding methods than would normally be available during the production of a regular steel knife. That is how we give you the sharpest edge you will ever try, and continue to use, without dullness!
THE BLADE – BEAUTIFUL TITANIUM PROTECTION
The blade of an ONYX COOKWARE™ knife is made from a core of high-quality steel. This is then reinforced with titanium plating, in a process that involves vaporizing the titanium and depositing it on the blade one atom at a time. During this process the titanium and steel is fused together into a new solid substance. Coatings can usually wear out or dissolve over time. This does not happen to our plating, as it is bonded with the steel on the atomic level.
Besides from looking absolutely stunning (!) the titanium plating provides an extra hard and wear resistant surface that does not interact with the materials it touches. This makes your ONYX COOKWARE™ knife not only last longer, but also allows it to achieve easier cutting through of juicy foods and makes it easier to clean.
THE HANDLE – GLASSFIBER PERFECTION
While often not the center of attention for most people shopping for a new knife, the handle is actually very important! It is the determining factor for the balance of the knife as well as how ergonomical it actually is to use. Let’s be honest; There is no sense in having a superbly sharp knife – if it is a horror to handle.
